Assessments suspended due to the coronavirus emergency.

Sorry, but we can’t meet with you for psychological evaluations at this time because of the coronavirus emergency. You just can’t do psychological or neuropsychological testing staying six feet apart. Check back with us when the emergency ends. In the meantime, stay safe and healthy. If you would like to begin in therapy or counseling, we are offering teletherapy services.

Our psychological evaluations: careful, complete assessment so YOU understand.

At the NeuroDevelopment Center, we will work carefully with you to understand all of the difficulties you are facing in life and get to the bottom of it. We will take the time needed to understand the problem completely. A key part of the evaluation is to identify a range of solutions that are the right ones for you. When we review the results with you, we will be sure to answer all of your questions. What matters most to us is that YOU understand the problem and know the path forward. Because it is only when you understand the problem that can you change it.

A prompt straightforward assessment report with practical recommendations.

Our reports are written for you. You will get a report that is written in easy to understand terms, without psychological jargon. We will consider all of the test results and data. But we will make sense of the data, put the pieces together, so that you get a clear picture of the problem. Your report will put the whole complex picture together in a way that makes sense to anyone who reads it. Most important: we will describe the solutions in a careful step by step manner so that you have a clear map for your way forward. You will get our report one month after we have gathered all the needed information.

Taking SAT's, MAT's or GRE's?

If you have a learning or attention disorder, you may be eligible for special accommodations for standardized tests. These changes will allow you to perform your best under very stressful circumstances. In order to obtain these accommodations, a neuropsychological assessment that meets specialized requirements of the testing companies is required. Our neuropsychologists will know what tests to perform to meet these requirements. Be sure to contact us to schedule your assessment well in advance.

Our assessments are collaborative.

At the NeuroDevelopment Center, it’s not a matter of coming to a professional or expert who asks some questions and maybe uses some tests and then pronounces the answer.

At the NeuroDevelopment Center, we will work with you as a team. Each evaluation begins with a thorough history of the problems or difficulties that are the focus of the assessment. With children and adolescents, we understand that parents are a vital source of information about their children. Parents’ voices are always heard in our evaluations – completely and carefully. Teachers and other school professionals also provide a critical source of information, as do medical and other involved professionals. The kids of course will tell us much about themselves. With adults, there may be others in your life who can contribute to our understanding. With your permission, we will listen to what they have to tell us and make it a part of the picture. Finally, we use information from standardized psychological testing and highly trained and practiced observation.

So we work as a team. We see the whole picture – your unique pattern of strengths and weaknesses. And together we develop a road map that builds on your strengths to address areas of difficulty so that you move forward.

We offer three types of evaluation. Each assessment is customized based on your unique circumstances:

If you are experiencing difficulties in your life – with staying focused or being organized and on top of things, with your mood, with fears or worries or anxiety, with learning or difficult behavior, or with social or close personal relationships – we will work with you to understand your problem and discuss all of your options for treatment. Although the symptoms that are bothering you may be clear, what is causing the symptoms may be difficult for you to recognize on your own. In a diagnostic assessment or evaluation at The NeuroDevelopment Center, we will work with you to understand the problem and discover the right path forward. Learn more about diagnostic assessments.
If you are facing a challenge or difficulty in learning, behavior, or development, you want to get to the bottom of it and then move ahead with some practical solutions. At the NeuroDevelopment Center, we have found that comprehensive neuropsychological testing can help you to put the pieces together to solve the puzzle. Neuropsychology is the study of brain-behavior relationships. Everything we do is governed by the brain, whether we are awake or asleep, at work or at play, learning a new skill or practicing a familiar routine. Just like differences in body shape and size, there are important individual differences in how each individual brain functions. We each have a unique profile of strengths and weaknesses in brain function. This profile can be the key to a better understanding of the difficulties you face and to more effective and efficient solutions. At the NeuroDevelopment Center, we will work with you to complete a careful neuropsychological assessment to provide you with this key to understanding and improvement. Often, attention deficits are present along with other difficulties in life – difficulties with learning, with anxiety, or mood, or behavior, or even family circumstances or stressors. This requires a comprehensive neuropsychological assessment. But sometimes, the picture is much more simple, and focused ADHD testing of attention, activity level, and self control is all that is required. Focused ADHD assessment like this is much shorter and can usually be scheduled with very little delay. Learn more about focused ADHD assessments.
